New pencils, crayons, paper products, tissues – I love Back to School shopping! But if I have all three of my cuties with me – it’s got to be fast. I am so lucky that a new Wal-mart was built right after we moved to Spanish Fork – it’s the easiest for picking up everything I need for back to school. Plus I am a big fan of the Wal-mart Savings Catcher app and price matching policy. It saves us lots of money!

Here’s a few tips that help me keep my sanity during Back to School shopping.

1. Stock Up! Sale prices for back to school items are the best this time of year. Everything from crayons to Kleenex at Wal-mart are on sale. I have a shelf in my kitchen with all the gluesticks and art supplies.

2. Prep for Parties! Last year I was a room mom and I wish that I would have bought more supplies for school parties at the beginning of the year. Inevitably, something comes up and parents forget to send in supplies. With class parties come class messes so be sure to pick up Viva paper towels at Wal-mart!

One of my favorite supplies for parties – Scott Extra Soft at Wal-mart! Toilet paper is seriously a life-saver for games. We’ve done toilet paper bowling and my personal favorite – Minute to Win it Wrapping. For Halloween, the kids can wrap each other up like mummies. For Christmas – make it a Christmas tree with ornaments! For Valentines – wrap them up and tape on hearts.

3. Be Ready for Sick Days. School is back in session and that means germs are, too! I hate starting cold season without my favorite soft tissues so I stock up on Kleenex at Wal-mart.  Grab some Bear Creek Soup packets (just add water) and saltines and you are set for flu season.

4. Price Match. Be sure you have the Wal-mart Savings Catcher App and price match at Wal-mart. It’s nice knowing that you are getting the best deals!

5. Buy Double for Home. Make sure you are stocked up for home and for school! This year I am organizing my supplies in a rolling cart with individual containers so that my kids can easily access what they need and don’t have to go looking for it. All the extras will go up in the kitchen cupboard.

Wal-mart Box Tops

6. Give back. We are serious Box Tops for Education collectors at our house. We even recruit grandparents and aunts/uncles to clip them for us. The best thing abut buying in bulk at Wal-mart is the high-value Box Tops.

Hope these tips help your school year start more smoothly! Check out more tips from Wal-mart and moms like you here.  Be sure to share your own tips as well!

I remember those class parties days. Son doesn’t have those anymore but I still send in supplies like tissues for his classes.

I currently have almost 500 hundred Box Tops saved for my nephews! I collected them all summer from my dog park friends and neighbors who don’t have little ones in their lives. That’s $50 directly to their school! Last year the school bought a bunch of yoga equipment for the kids so they didn’t have to go outside for recess in freezing cold weather.

We’ve collected for years and I love packages that have bonus box tops.

Do you know if they have a box top program here in Canada?
I have seen those little tabs on quite a bit of stuff that I purchase and I never knew what they were for.

I still need to pick up a bunch of supplies for Back To School and will definitely be headed to Walmart. I really like the Walmart Savings Catcher app…it’s super simple to use and has given me back quite a bit of savings! Totally worth it!

Summer just flew by. I can’t believe it’s about to be school time already. Walmart though, is amazing for bts shopping.

My kid doesn’t need these supplies for school but it cannot hurt to stock up for home. There are some great sales this time of year and I cannot wait to take advantage of some of them!

Well, I was just thinking this morning about heading to Wal Mart to stock up – to prepare for those inevitable sick days when the kids get back to school!

I love Walmart! Lately I’ve been stocking up on extra supplies at home – for when they run out at school, or else to save for next September – you never know what prices will be like next year!

Jamie · August 31, 2015 at 9:58 am

My girls only let me buy cereal that has box tops on it (and other items too). I like your tip to stock up at the beginning of the year when there are sales.

This is the mom survival list lol. I have done every single thing on this list and actually it has been a smooth transition this year!

Beth@FrugalFroggie · August 31, 2015 at 8:44 pm

I thought I had all of my back to school shopping done but now my printer is low on ink. Boo!!

Mhar Sefcik · August 31, 2015 at 10:26 pm

These are great tips. I like the best is preparing for sick days. Yes and cold weather is getting nearer so medicine and first aid stuff should be present all the time.

Ourfamilyworld · September 1, 2015 at 3:04 am

I love to shop at Walmart. I’ll be going there this weekend to get some of our supplies.

Elizabeth O. · September 1, 2015 at 6:09 am

I love that walmart also features products that have box tops. Kudos to them for helping give back.

Yona Williams · September 1, 2015 at 9:00 am

My nephew’s new school requested that he bring in his own Kleenex, and hand sanitizer. I guess they are getting well-prepared for sick days.
