What you really need on your baby registry to keep baby safe and healthy

This pregnancy is flying by! I am almost 18 weeks along and already thinking about must-haves for my sweet baby this time around. We’ve been through this 3 times before so I have a pretty good idea about what we need to keep our little pumpkin happy and safe. Technology has changed in the last 5 years so I am excited to be adding a few new things to my list! Here’s what I am pulling out of storage and putting on my wish list the 4th time around:

Thermometers sure have come along way since my first baby! I still love my Braun No Touch Thermometer, but I’ve added the Kinsa Smart Thermometer, Newest Model to my mommy medicine cabinet. The Braun is ideal from when my baby’s are sleeping – I can take their temp without waking them up! But I am excited to use my Kinsa now when they are awake.  It connects to my smart phone and automatically records their temperature, time, etc. I have all the info I need if we end up at the doctors office. You are in LUCK because we are giving one of these sweet Kinsa’s away at the bottom of this post!

The Happi Tummi Waistband for Colic Relief Pink is my go to baby shower gift. I bought it with my first baby and it has been an absolute must for every baby since then. My nine year old still likes to use it when she has a tummy ache. You carefully warm up the insert and then put it back inside the minky soft wrap around belt. It helps to ease gassy little tummies. LOVE it!

This one is uber simple, but something I buy in bulk – outlet covers (Mommy’s Helper Outlet Plugs, 36 Count). We still have these all over our house as well as a bag of extras. Doesn’t hurt to have a few in your diaper bag for when you are visiting relatives either

securefurniture

It’s been a few years since we had a crawler/climber so you better believe that I am double checking that all furniture is secured to the wall. I am passionate about this. I’ll never forget hearing a crash and running in to find my 4 year old attempting to hold up a cabinet in the bathroom. So scary! We like to use L brackets like the ones in the picture, but these Mommy’s helper safety brackets work great, too.

Owlet Baby Monitor

The last item that I have on my wish list for baby #4 is the Owlet Baby Monitor.  The Owlet Baby Monitor is the only baby monitor that uses hospital technology designed to alert you if your baby stops breathing. And it comes as a snuggly Smart Sock for your baby to wear at night. I can’t tell you how excited I am to get this. I am one of those moms who sneaks in even when her baby is sleeping to make sure that they are okay and breathing.

Now for the fun part, as part of Baby Safety Month I am helping to host a giveaway for all these fabulous BABY PRIZES!

(1) Owlet Baby Monitor ($249.99)
(1) Kinsa Smart Ear Thermometer ($49.99)
(1) Evenflo SensorSafe Car seat ($149.00)
(1) Burley Solstice Jogger  ($399.99)
About $850 for the prizes! We will have 4 winners total, so more chances to win!

Ok how have I not hear about the Happi Tummi Waistband for Colic Relief. My first baby had colic so bad. This might have saved us! My second baby was better but we still had gassy problems. Thanks for sharing these.

Not having to wake up ever hour to check on my baby gives me a peace of mind that’s why I would like to win the owelet for my son.

Lately my favorite item has been my city select stroller. It took a while to convince myself (and my husband) to spend that kind of money on a stroller, but now both of us are glad we did. I wish I had gotten it with my first child since it goes from a single to a double (or triple with the glider board). Love, love my stroller and leave home with multiple kids more often because of it!

I’ve seen all of these helpful devices all over social media, especially the Owlet! As a first time mom, all of these would make me more confident that my baby is safe at all times!

Stella K. · September 14, 2016 at 11:49 am

I’d love to win the owlet for baby #2 because it would be comforting knowing something will alert me if baby stops breathing. I remember always frantically checking on my first to make sure she was breathing.

Mireya · September 14, 2016 at 11:53 am

Safety is always first for a mother to their child. This being my third and knowing there are products to help you and not being able to afford them makes all a little bit tougher to imagine. I would love to win as I am due next month and have no time to save for all the items needed, especially having the eldest in their senior year trying to help get her into college.
It would be a blessing to win!

I would love to win the owlet baby monitor because this is my rainbow baby so my anxiety is a little high. My son was stillborn September 27th of last year and now my baby girl is due any day. I would love to have just a little more peace of mind that there is something to alert me if something was wrong.

Casey H · September 15, 2016 at 10:03 am

Ashley · September 15, 2016 at 10:12 am

I would give the baby monitor to my friend who is pregnant and needs a new one!

Heather Lawrence · September 15, 2016 at 11:27 am

I was one of those moms that snuck into to see how my baby was doing even with a baby monitor.
We had the angel care one and even with the false alarms I always knew they were safe.
This one looks much more advanced.

Emily · September 15, 2016 at 12:41 pm

That heart monitor one would have been amazing when I had little babies! My youngest is 5 and it is crazy how much new stuff is out in such a short time! This is a great must have list for new parents!

Dulce Finegold · September 15, 2016 at 4:48 pm

I’m due in March 2017 so the monitor would be great!

Brianne · September 15, 2016 at 8:16 pm

This is such a great list. I wish I had this information when I registered. I feel like half of the things I didn’t need.

Kim · September 15, 2016 at 9:21 pm

My daughter had terrible colic when she was a baby. I think that Happi Tummi would’ve come in real handy. It’s definitely a great baby shower gift.

Monica · September 16, 2016 at 9:34 am

This is great and what a fantastic giveaway for new moms. The techie in me loves any baby product that can be controlled or monitored with an app. Makes mommylife so much easier! 🙂

Heather Thomas · September 19, 2016 at 12:19 pm

I would love to win an Owlet baby monitor for my cousin who just found out she was pregnant. She’s extremely nervous given the circumstances with complications in our family’s history with pregnancy. She just lost her sister back in April. Her sister had been on monitors since practically birth. She was only 11 when she passed. I feel that this would help ease her a little bit at night. I want her to have a wonderful experience with her first born.

Deanna Marissa · September 19, 2016 at 5:59 pm

Great list! Very useful for expecting moms out there. When I was preparing for the arrival of my daughter, I made sure to buy childproofing products for the home.
