This week’s goal may seem quite simple, but it is going to take some work! I recently started using mint.com – a fabulous web-site that downloads and categories your balances from your bank account every day. You see, I’ve tried to budget before and we set up a great budget. But then I forget to put in the balances every day or I keep track in my head … you see where that heads!

Mint.com is fabulous because it does that for me AND it sends me an email when I have exceeded my limit. Imagine my surprise this month when I discovered we are already $91 over our eating out budget for the entire month of May and we are only on the 19th.

So meeting this goal of no eating out and take out requires one big thing – MENU PLANNING! Which I actually try to do every week over at my other blog …. savvydivasanddudes.blogspot.com.

It also requires follow through. And last night, I was happy to say that I did. I whipped up a quick dinner, full of perishables I might add, and picked up my husband from work. We took our yummies to the park and had a marvelous time. Our makeshift Cafe Rio salads were perfect for using up the delicious pork my sister in law had made the night before plus I was able to use up my own cilantro, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and limes. I also roasted some potatoes, carrots, and onions.

It was a lovely evening! We shall see what Tuesday brings!

The little diva with her sassy new haircut.
And Daddy got a work out in as well pushing the swings!

This little guy is finally on the move and figuring out the basics of crawling.
He is adorable to watch.

And he thinks that everything is edible. No fun for mommy.
