So far, I’ve kept with my goal and spent time every day in yard. The beautiful Spring weather calls to us everyday anyway. I don’t have to ask my two year old twice if she would like to join my outside. Here is a sneak peak at one very small section of the yard that I worked on yesterday.
This is my view when I open up the basement apartment door. Behold the honeysuckle bush! And it was even bigger before I got the pruning shears out last week. It spilled over the rocks and onto the staircase to the side. Definitely still needs to be shaped more, but oh how I love the smell of honeysuckle in the summer! I also need to cut down the basil plant in the concrete planter area. To add to the herb garden, I put seeds in for these little friends …..

Can’t wait to have my own fresh cilantro! Yum! And I learned something new yesterday – I never knew that coriander was just dry cilantro. Looking forward to lots of yummy salsas and Mexican dishes this summer and fall.

This is a view of the other corner. Not sure what the tall plant is. Time to cut it down! Just below the tall dry plant is a start of a ground cover rose bush. Can’t wait for that to fill in that area. It will smell divine with the honey suckle. You can see that I still have some weeding to take care of and I can’t decide what flowers to put in the green planter. Any ideas?

And here are the rocks. Not sure what I want to do with them, but I do need some time of a barrier to keep the bark and dirt from spilling on to the concrete. Again, ideas?

Last, but not least …. here is my little helper who loves to plant seeds. She is perched on the stairs in order to escape the scary “snorms.”

After working down below, I started clearing some areas in the upper yard. My little one brought out a blanket for herself and her baby. I couldn’t resist taking a break to lay in the sun with her and just enjoy the gloriousness and warmness of the day. It was heaven.

I love how the next two pictures capture the moment for me. Do I look perfect in my pony tale, makeup-less, just been working in the yard for an hour state? Nope. But you can see the happiness in our eyes and I love that. I love my bean!
