With my first child I blocked out a nice long break from all activities that required leaving the house so that we could focus solely on potty training. Now that I am potty training my third child, we no longer have that luxury! From car pools to weekend camping trips, I’ve got to be able to potty train on the go – especially after the first week!

On the Go Essentials for Potty Training

So how do I do it without pulling my hair out and cancelling everything on my calendar? I make sure that I have all of our favorite on the go potty training essentials. We have a camping trip coming up that normally I would dread in the midst of potty training. No fear this time – I’ve stocked up on all our favorite products and potty training equipment for the road! Here’s a peak at what I have packed!

Tips and Tricks for Potty Training On the Go

  1. Pull-Ups from Family Dollar – Undies are fine for at home, but during the first month when we are on the go – I’m not taking any chances! Pull ups can get expensive so I am happy when I can find them for a good deal. I found these Jake and the Neverland Pirate Pull-Ups on sale at Family Dollar this week! Find a Family Dollar near you to see how much you can save, too. Text CARE to 28767 to get Pull-Ups® Training Pants for $8.50 for a limited time only! I love that they are stretchy enough that my kids can get them up and down by themselves, but still provide some extra protection if they have an accident.Tips and Tricks for Potty Training On the Go
  2. 2-in-1 potty training chair – This chair has been a lifesaver more than once. We keep it in the back of our van with a big supply of grocery bags. We try to hustle to the rest room as much as possible, but this has come in handy several times.I love that it doubles as a potty chair as well as a potty seat for the toilet.               Tips and Tricks for Potty Training On the GO
  3. Potty Time Potty Watch – Toddlers get WAY TOO distracted on vacation and so do mom and dad. This watch keeps both of us reminded!Time to Potty App
  4. It’s Time to Potty App – Of course there is a potty training app! Downloading this for the reminders and fun games as well!
  5. Ziplocs and a positive attitude. Accidents happen just like our good friend Elmo says. (PS- My kids all loved this Sesame Street Potty Training DVD. Might not be a bad idea to pop it in the DVD player on long car trips.)  Be sure to travel with ziplocs and wet wipes for any accidents. Be sure to stay as positive as you can! Oh man do I know it is hard when you catch a whiff of a smell that should not be coming from your potty trained child!

Potty training has been so much easier the third time around! Waiting until he was ready and then making sure we had all the essentials on hand has made all the difference.

Thank you to Pull-Ups and Family Dollar for sponsoring today’s post and helping me to set the stage for potty training success!

Pull ups saved the day for us many times when we were training. They were a real life saver.

Pull ups were a life saver on long trips to Disney when son was little. They truly are amazing little things.

Oh my! We never had the portable potty chairs but that would have been a life saver.
I know of a few moms that carry them in their car, I wonder if they know that there are bags you can put in them to keep everything cleaner?
Good luck on the potty training!

I love the potty watch thats a neat idea – we have used Pull Ups and they work wonders when trying to potty train big enough for undies but great for accidents too

These are some good tips for potty training while on the go. I know my kids definitely got distracted while we were traveling and it threw off our potty training routine.

I was really lucky with potty training and my daughters. They were all ready to start the process because they had someone older than them doing it and they wanted to be a “big kid”! lol I love the Potty Watch though…that’s smart!

I ‘ve heard of everything on this list .. of course the Pull Ups but never a Potty Training Watch. I have to admit that’s kinda cool. I’m interested to know how well this works as it relates to responsiveness from the kids. It is a genius idea

The grocery bag on the potty is such a good idea. I’d have never thought of it either.
