#IamBeautifulandBrave

I am Brave and Beautiful – a beauty movement that is sweeping the globe. Colbie Caillat started it with her recent song and video called TRY. My blogging friend Megan of Brassy Apple wanted to push this movement along and invited women from all over to share what they looked like without make up and I joined in!! Colbie’s song says, “Take your make up off. Let your hair down… Look into the mirror at yourself, Do you like you? Cause I like you… “

Megan and her friend Cobi of Peacefrom6pieces have been the team behind this whole project. Their worldwide vision included creating their own video inspired by the song TRY. The talent of Robbins Creative made it possible for them to pull it off. You have to click play and see the beauty and bravery displayed and you might even recognize a few faces in there. I have worked with and met many of these lovely ladies and can easily say that they are beautiful inside-out!

Me along with 101+ other blogging women from different backgrounds, religions, ethnicities, ages, shapes and sizes have decided to be Brave and Beautiful! You can join in this movement too by sharing what you look like without makeup on. You don’t need a blog either! Just tag your photo with #IamBraveAndBeautiful on Instgram and search the hashtag to see who else has joined in. ALSO, if you tag it with a second hashtag – #ColbieTRY we just might be able to get Colbie Caillat’s attention since she was the inspiration behind it all!

Are you brave and beautiful? I am, here I go!

Tara Parker

I participated in this project for myself and for my daughter. She reminds me at least once a week, “It’s okay not to be perfect, mom.” My little seven year old is wise beyond her years. She loves getting all dolled up and sparkly, but she’s just as happy as her natural, beautiful self. That’s how it should be and hope that stays with her.

braveandbeautiful

What makes me beautiful is seeing myself through the eyes of my loved ones. My children love me – even the squishy parts of me that I am still working off from each of my pregnancies. They love the mom that laughs with them, that plays with them, that listens to their silly stories. During this phase of my life, my little ones want to be with me as many seconds of the day that they can.

They sneak into my bed at night and climb onto my lap when I am working on blog posts. They still get excited when I volunteer in their classrooms. I pray wholeheartedly that I am loving them as deeply and fully as they are loving me!

I want to set an example for my children of what it means to feel brave and beautiful. I want them to see that my true self-worth does not come from my clothes, my hair, my make up, my accomplishments, etc. When they look in the mirror, I want them to like themselves. So it is crucial that I set the example.

Some days that is hard when I don’t like what the scale says or when I realize that I will probably be paying off my kids’ braces before I get my own. ‘Cause let’s be honest – we all have those days. And those are the days that this message is vital.

I like Myself.

I am Enough.

I am Brave and Beautiful.

I don’t wear makeup anyways and when anyone asks me why I tell them it’s because I am naturally beautiful.

Christine Luken · September 29, 2014 at 7:14 am

I LOVE that video! Yes, women do need to see their own beauty more. I’m honestly tired of hearing other women complain about everything that’s wrong with their appearance! Men don’t do this, so why do we?

Kelli A · September 29, 2014 at 7:50 am

i LOVE Colbie Caillat! This is such a great initiative and I’m glad to see so many woman joining in to spread the word!

Lois Alter Mark · September 29, 2014 at 8:38 am

I love everything about this. I wear very little make-up and am a what you see if what you get kind of girl!

Stacey - Craft Blogger · September 29, 2014 at 8:44 am

I rarely wear makeup, but I’m glad to see such a massive blog hop and campaign for women to recognize that makeup isn’t what makes us beautiful!

KatyRose · September 29, 2014 at 10:24 am

I always wear makeup, but I don’t see it as a means of hiding my true beauty, nor do I wear it because I am ashamed of what I look like without it. Rather I wear it as a way to enhance my own natural beauty to draw attention to my eyes, the windows to the soul. Still I love the idea of this campaign! Such a great message to send. – Katy

Emily DeBry · September 29, 2014 at 10:45 am

Love this video. I think it sends a great message since we as a society are getting so obsessed with not only beauty but fake beauty.

Candice · September 29, 2014 at 11:27 am

I love this message!! I hardly wear make up because well I am a natural beauty. I also blog at Mommas Wonderings and will be joining the movement on Wednesday.

oh my goodness. this is hands down one of the most beautiful campaigns i’ve seen. and i LOVE Try. I think it should be preloaded on phones and music players.

Trisha · September 29, 2014 at 12:40 pm

What an amazing post (and blog hop)! So many brave and beautiful faces! I rarely wear makeup and hope my own daughter will embrace her natural beauty.

Dawn · September 29, 2014 at 1:01 pm

I LOVE this. It’s about time we as women started telling the world they we value ourselves and not what the world thinks of us.

Heather Lawrence · September 29, 2014 at 1:13 pm

I spend about 80% of my time without makeup.
The only time I actually wear makeup is IF the hubby and I are going out on a date.
I love the way I look…laugh lines and all 🙂

Mama to 5 BLessings · September 29, 2014 at 2:11 pm

What a sweet little girl you have! I am far from being perfect too! My kids look past that thankfully!

Jennifer B · September 29, 2014 at 3:56 pm

I think this is a great movement! I do like to wear a little make-up but not really to hide anything. 🙂

Your Sister Circle · September 29, 2014 at 7:16 pm

Marya · September 29, 2014 at 8:23 pm

What a great message to get across! Thanks for sharing!

Kathleen · September 29, 2014 at 8:24 pm

I don’t know that I think I am beautiful, but I go most every day without makeup. Not because I want to, but because I just don’t have the time to put it on. Between homeschooling four boys and working to make sure they have food in their mouths, it is what it is. 🙂

    Taralyn · September 30, 2014 at 2:38 pm

I bet your boys think their mom is beautiful! Way to go on the homeschooling!

Carly Anderson · September 29, 2014 at 8:45 pm

Liz Mays · September 29, 2014 at 10:37 pm

I’m getting more and more comfortable going make-up free. I love that I’m gaining self-confidence that way.

Janeane Davis · September 29, 2014 at 11:13 pm

I had not heard of this movement before reading your post. I like the idea though. I think the world will be a better place when we learn to accept ourselves for the brave, beautiful and wonderful people we are.

Debbie L. · September 30, 2014 at 4:14 am

I love the quote “A Smile is the most beautiful curve on a woman’s body!” That is so true!! I wish more people would smile – makes the day so much happier!

Your Sister Circle · September 30, 2014 at 6:34 am

Love this post! You are so pretty!! It has been so fun to be a part of this TRY campaign with so many beautiful and amazing women!! #womenneedwomen #hugstimesfive

    Taralyn · September 30, 2014 at 2:36 pm

Ah thanks! I agree – this is an amazing campaign to be part of!

Amanda Love · September 30, 2014 at 7:32 am

What a great concept. I don’t wear makeup unless its some special occasion. I’m a true believer of be happy with the skin you’re in.

eliz frank · September 30, 2014 at 10:40 am

What a beautiful campaign. I wish we would all start at home teaching our daughters that they are beautiful as God created them. I am brave and beautiful with and without makeup. I look forward to the day when this would be a given, not something to campaign for. That said, I’m going to join the effort because every bit counts. 🙂

    eliz frank · September 30, 2014 at 11:02 am

BTW, where is the linky for this BlogHop? I don’t see one. How do we add our photos?

      Taralyn · September 30, 2014 at 2:36 pm

There isn’t a linky, but you can post photos to twitter or instagram with the hashtags #IamBraveandBeautiful as well as #ColbieTry. Tag @BrassyApple and @Peacefrom6Pieces if you can too! So glad that you are joining us Eliz!

Deborah @ mommycrusader · October 1, 2014 at 12:09 am

This is such a great movement. I hope it goes viral! This is a message every woman and girl needs to live. There’s so many messages that say women are not enough, that it’s good to finally have a movement that says we are enough. Thanks for this amazing post!
